on giants

you have to admit, microsoft’s got their head on somewhat straight. windows 7 + office 2010 + ie9 beta feels like a proper modern system, and it is fast, even running under parallels. server 2008 R2 is a proper evolution of the platform; same with exchange 2010. if they can maintain focus on their core products, keep improving the speed and feel, and quit releasing half-baked products and then killing them, we could see a real return to form. i’m excited for it; i love apple products but they alone can’t keep advancing the platform, and they’re somewhat braindead in the server space.

feels like good times all around. nice to have a proper microsoft operating system back in my hands.
